Disability Care Center Visit — California

Our team will travel to California to provide interactive learning sessions and distribute adaptive educational materials at a community disability care center, bringing joy and opportunity to children with special needs.

Summer Reading Camp — Atlanta, GA

Launching a two-week summer reading camp in Atlanta, distributing 500 carefully selected books to local youth and hosting daily reading circles led by volunteer educators.

Back-to-School Supply Drive — Middletown, DE

Our signature annual supply drive, distributing fully stocked school supply kits across 3 community centers in Middletown, Delaware, just in time for the new academic year.

Kickoff of a 10-day STEM workshop series for high school students in Chicago, featuring hands-on robotics, coding, and science experiments led by industry professionals.

Back-to-School Supply Drive 2025

Back-to-School Supply Drive 2025 — Delaware & Maryland

In the fall of 2025, our team organized our most ambitious supply drive to date, reaching over 1,200 students across Delaware and Maryland. Volunteers packed and distributed fully stocked backpacks containing notebooks, pencils, rulers, and reading books — ensuring every child started the school year ready to learn.

The response from the community was overwhelming. Parents expressed deep gratitude, and teachers reported a noticeable improvement in classroom preparedness among participating students. This trip reinforced our belief that small acts of generosity can create profound, lasting change.

Community Garden Project 2025

Community Garden & Environmental Learning — New Jersey

In partnership with a local elementary school in New Jersey, our volunteers spent two weeks helping students plant and tend a community garden. The project was more than just gardening — it was an immersive science and environmental education experience that connected children to the natural world.

Students learned about ecosystems, nutrition, and sustainability while working alongside our dedicated volunteers. The garden continues to thrive today, maintained by the school's students as a living classroom and a source of fresh produce for the school cafeteria.

After-School Tutoring Launch 2024

After-School Tutoring Program Launch — Philadelphia, PA

The launch of our After-School Scholars program in Philadelphia marked a turning point for Alishan Charity Association. Over 80 students enrolled in the first semester, receiving weekly one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions from our trained volunteer educators at the local public library.

End-of-semester assessments showed an average grade improvement of 18% among participating students. More importantly, students reported feeling more confident, more engaged, and more hopeful about their academic futures. This program has since expanded to three additional cities.

Disability Center Visit 2024

Disability Care Center Visit — Los Angeles, CA

In June 2024, a team of 15 volunteers traveled to Los Angeles to visit a community disability care center, bringing adaptive learning materials, sensory toys, and a program of interactive educational activities specially designed for children with diverse learning needs.

The visit was a deeply moving experience for both our volunteers and the children they served. We partnered with the center's staff to develop a series of ongoing educational resources that the center continues to use in its daily programs. This trip inspired us to make disability inclusion a permanent pillar of our work.

Our Founding Journey (2022–2023)

March 2022
Organization Founded

Chino Chang officially registered the Alishan Charity Association as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Delaware, with a founding board of five community leaders committed to educational equity.

August 2022
First Supply Drive — Middletown, DE

Our inaugural supply drive distributed 150 backpacks to students in Middletown, Delaware. Though modest in scale, this first trip established the template for all future programs and proved the concept worked.

February 2023
First Grant Awarded

Alishan Charity Association received its first foundation grant of $25,000, enabling the expansion of our supply distribution program to two additional counties in Delaware.

June 2023
Summer Reading Initiative

We launched our first summer reading initiative in partnership with three local libraries, distributing 300 books and hosting weekly story-time events for children aged 4–10.

November 2023
Volunteer Network Reaches 50

Our volunteer network grew to over 50 active members, including retired teachers, university students, and community professionals who collectively contributed more than 1,200 hours of service.

December 2023
First Annual Gala

Our inaugural fundraising gala raised $80,000 in a single evening, providing the financial foundation for our ambitious 2024 program expansion across multiple states.
